Dunkin' Wants Intown Dwellers to Devour its Donuts

Canton, Massachusetts-based Dunkin' Donuts plans to expand its Atlanta presence with a number of upcoming locations.  Despite having closed their freestanding location in Midtown Place on Ponce de Leon Avenue last year and pulling out of their planned Emory Village location, the donut and
coffee powerhouse is determined grow its presence in Georgia, especially intown.

The chain that also previously shuttered locations on Buford Highway near North Druid Hills and on Chamblee-Tucker near Embry Village has also renovated a number of aging stores.  Dunkin' locations on Peachtree Road in Brookhaven and at LaVista at North Druid Hills have both been renovated within the past year or so.

I have now confirmed that their intown plans include building a new location at the corner of Piedmont and Rock Springs Roads on the site of a former Burger King, currently operating as Cottage Ethiopian.  Ironically, the opposite corner of Rock Springs Road, where currently Subway operates, was a Dunkin' Donuts back in the 70s.

Additionally, Dunkin' plans to open another location on Moreland Avenue in Little 5 Points near Front Page News.  This location is not confirmed but is in the works despite an ongoing property dispute.  In my eyes, Dunkin' Donuts has done a far better job at marketing than than of competitor Winston-Salem, North Carolina-based Krispy Kreme.  Dunkin' Donuts offer far more food and non donut options than KK and also co-brands select locations with Baskin Robbins.  The fact that Dunkin' offers more than just coffee and pastries has allowed it to expand and grow its market share.

Who serves the best coffee in Atlanta?  (Do you run on Dunkin'?)  Have you increased your purchasing at Dunkin' as a result of their expanding product offerings?  Are you pleased to see Cottage replaced or are you already missing it?  Please share your thoughts in the comment section below.
