Nest opened last spring, replacing a long list of failed clubs / lounges / eateries in that space. The Nest was opened by a group of recent Emory grads, and their plan seems to have been to appeal to Emory students. I named the business to my DeathWatch shortly after its opening and predicted they would close within a year or so.
With Emory back in session a few weeks now, the owners opted to dump the Nest branding and go with the more generic sports bar'y "Scoreboards," likely in an attempt to appeal to a greater portion of the neighborhood.
Scoreboards seems like your typical sports bar, but according to the banner (pictured) it also offers event planning? I'm not sure I want a sports bar run by a recent grad planning my event, but that's just me.
Personally, I don't think this venture will really do any better than the last, given that the ownership, management and menu remains largely unchanged. I recently discovered 7 Hens, a new fast casual restaurant specializing in schnitzel. It's located in the adjacent North Decatur shopping center, having replaced the long standing Philly Connection, and it definitely shows more promise than a generic reincarnation of a sports bar.
