Three years in the making, Bruegger's Bagels has finally re-entered the Atlanta market! Burlington,Vermont-based Bruegger's had five locations in metro Atlanta in the mid 90's but like Pollo Tropical, all locations later closed. Now, with new management and a new direction, Bruegger's is coming back to town to challenge Einstein Bros. and Goldberg's.
The chain announced they would return to Atlanta in 2009, with the first planned opening in spring of 2010. The first new location was to be in Powers Ferry Landing and the first location is in Powers Ferry landing, albeit over two year later than planned. The new location opened May 23rd and will celebrate their Grand Opening June 21st offering free 16 oz. iced coffees to patrons in support of a national campaign supporting Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.
Later this year, Boca Raton-based Brooklyn Water Bagel will open their first location in Atlanta at Akers Mills in Cobb county. Using a multi-step patentented system, Brooklyn Water Bagel "Brooklynizes" water creating what is claims to be the most authentic Brooklyn bagel outside the Big Apple. Brooklyn Water Bagel joins Atlanta-based Goldberg's with seven area locations as well as Alpharetta-based BB's Bagels with two locations in attempting to cater to those seeking a New York-style bagel.
